A closer look at high-end golf brand PXG

At golfclubs4cash, second-hand PXG golf clubs are in constant demand, known for their versatility, sleek looks and high-end performance. When you dig below the surface, it’s an intriguing brand with a fascinating backstory - it all came about from one (very rich) man’s mission to revolutionise the world of golf club design and manufacture. Let’s find out how it all got started.

PXG - where it all began

Established in 2014 and based in Scottsdale, Arizona, PXG (which stands for Parsons Xtreme Golf) is the brainchild of billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist Bob Parsons. He’s perhaps best known as the businessman who founded the global hosting company GoDaddy.com. Now an international brand, recognised by Inc Magazine as being among America’s fastest-growing, privately held companies, PXG stormed onto the golfing scene as a challenger brand to more traditional golf brands.
Parson’s business interests include real estate, finance, motorcycles, marketing, innovation, philanthropy, and - of course - golf. He claims to have spent $350,000 annually in search of the perfect golf equipment, and, unable to find exactly what it was that he was looking for, he started his own manufacturing business to ‘build a better golf club’.
He partnered with two highly respected golf club designers to develop the ‘finest equipment on the planet’. The brief was ambitious, to say the least: ‘A sexy set of golf irons that look like blades, launch higher, go farther, feel softer and have a sweet spot the size of Texas’. But, we have got to hand it to him, we think he’s cracked it.

What makes PXG stand out?

PXG’s significant breakthrough happened when its engineers successfully identified a new material to fill the hollow-bodied club head. They injected a thermoplastic elastomer into the club's cavity, adding a layer of cushioning to the club's thin face, resulting in a remarkable improvement in both performance and feel on the course.

PXG's brand ambassadors include Eric Cole, David Lipsky, Céline Boutier, Zach Johnson, Luke List, and Christina Kim. And if you’re wondering what PXG’s naming system is all about, Parson served in the Vietnam War as a United States Marine. This inspired PXG’s club numbering convention - 0211, 0311, 0317, 0341, and 0811 - the United States military occupational code.
