A deep dive into popular golf brand Cleveland

The Californian golf brand Cleveland Golf came about in 1979, when Roger Cleveland (a renowned club designer) created ‘Cleveland Classics’. The brand became known as an undisputed trailblazer, primarily for its wedges which were (and still are) coveted by professional golfers due to their high quality and craftsmanship. The Cleveland 588 wedge, released in 1988, became a popular choice with professionals and amateurs alike, putting the brand on the map when it came to high-quality wedges.

Fast-forwarding to 1990, the brand was acquired by French company Rossignol. But today Cleveland (along with Srixon) is owned by Japanese company SRI Sports Ltd, and falls under the Dunlop Sports umbrella.

Known for its innovative approach to clubhead design, materials and technology, Cleveland is an enduring brand that golfers trust.

Cleveland wedges are the brand’s flagship products, and they’re what most golfers know them for first and foremost.
